A being with independent existence from our universe, and immensely more intelligence and power than humans, is not necessarily a god.

Premise 1
Our universe could be a sub-universe existing inside a larger and older universe.
Premise 2
If the universe is a sub-universe existing inside a larger and older universe, the latter could be inhabited by beings with immensely more intelligence and power than humans, but who are nevertheless mortals.
Conclusion
A being with independent existence from our universe, and immensely more intelligence and power than humans, is not necessarily a god.
